Ways of Giving

General, unrestricted support is a wonderful vote of confidence in the biological research carried out by the Institut Pasteur.  It helps seed the future and enhances the vitality of Pasteur laboratories. Regardless of the amount, a gift or bequest to the Pasteur Foundation is a commitment to the improvement of international public health.  By including the Pasteur Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation, in giving or estate plans, donors leave a lasting mark on the Institut Pasteur.

Gifts

Donations may take many forms such as cash, securities or real property. Making a tax-deductible gift to the Pasteur Foundation in any amount is a very direct, effective way to support the infectious disease research that is conducted at the Institut Pasteur. Honorary and Memorial Gifts

Is a special anniversary approaching? A birthday? Or perhaps a holiday? Would you like to honor a friend or family member’s memory? Why not make your gift in honor of someone? For more information, please contact us or you may designate this intention when you make your gift online.

Monthly Giving

A convenient way to give, setting up a monthly gift in an amount that will be charged to your credit card adds up in more ways than one! The ease of making a gift each month will bring you tax advantages that add up at the end of the year while providing support all year long for our programs. Program Funding

Would you like your gift to assist U.S. scientists in their work or training at the Institut Pasteur. You may designate your gift to our programs, or perhaps a good choice for you is to make a major gift and fund a program. For more information, please contact us.

Securities or Real Property

Donations of appreciated securities or real property will eliminate or reduce potential capital gains tax liability. For more information, please contact us.

Life Insurance

A wonderful way to make a difference is by naming the Pasteur Foundation a beneficiary of a life insurance policy should it no longer be needed for its original function within the donor’s estate plans. For more information, please contact us.

Retirement

Naming the nonprofit Pasteur Foundation a beneficiary of a retirement account, IRA or pension plan is another ideal way to advance an excellent cause while retaining control of funds during the donor’s lifetime and alleviating the tax burden of the individual’s estate. For more information, please contact us.

Bequests

Bequests have changed the face of the Institut Pasteur since its creation in 1888. One of the most significant bequests was made by Daniel Iffla-Osiris in “memory of the great Pasteur, one of the purest glories of my country.” This 1907 bequest – which amounted to 36 million gold francs or today’s equivalent of over $175 million – enabled the institute to create an endowment, to acquire new grounds in the 15th arrondissement of Paris and to establish a laboratory for Marie Curie at the Institut Pasteur after her husband Pierre’s death in 1908.
