The American Academy of Microbiology
As the honorific leadership group of the world’s oldest and largest life science organization, the American Academy of Microbiology acknowledges distinguished scientists for outstanding contributions to microbiology. Nearly 2,000 microbiologists from 40 countries have been recognized and named as Fellows by the Academy. Chosen by their peers, Fellows are elected on the basis of their scientific excellence, originality, leadership, high ethical standards and scholarly and creative achievement. The following Pasteur scientists are Fellows of the American Academy of Microbiology:

In 1883, Louis Pasteur was elected as a Foreign Associate of the National Academy of Sciences.  This was the beginning of Pasteur-U.S. scientific relations that flourish today
