Biography: Jamie Ritchie

Jamie Ritchie is the Head of Sotheby’s U.S. Wine Department. In 1990, he joined Sotheby's in London, where he served as one of the Wine Department's top experts. He is responsible for setting up Sotheby's Wine Sales in Germany (1993), Zurich (1994), New York (1994), and Los Angeles (1996).

Between 1997-1999, Mr. Ritchie was Managing Director of Sotheby's Chicago and was instrumental in Sotheby's acquisition of Davis & Co. Wine Auctioneers in November 1998. In 1999, he was involved in launching and running the Sothebys.com Associate Programme for online auctions at Sothebys.com. In 2000, Jamie Ritchie returned to managing the U.S. Wine Department, a position he had been named to in 1995.

Throughout his years with Sotheby's, Mr. Ritchie’s expertise and knowledge of wine has played an integral role in the success of many extraordinary sales, and Mr. Ritchie continues to act as auctioneer for Sotheby's wine auctions, as well as leading tastings and charity auctions around the United States.
