The Dial: South Park High School’s 1923 Yearbook

The Dial Yearbook 1923--Essay Excerpt "The Influence of Pasteur on American History"This 1923 edition of the Dial Yearbook was “dedicated to Louis Pasteur, who a century ago, devoted the entire labor of his gifted mind and the energy of his untiring body to the cause of science, a man of whom it can be fittingly said that he lived in order that others might have life even more abundantly. It is meet, then, that we, starting out on the pathways of learning, turn our thoughts to one, the results of whose zeal in the realm of knowledge have spread an influence that has blessed the rich and the poor, the great as well as the humble, in truth, all that enjoy the very breath of life – both man and beast.” The yearbook is filled with multilingual tributes to Louis Pasteur. The pages here were selected as the American History Essay, written by Olive Sherwood, Class of 1923, and entitled “The Influence of Pasteur on American History.” Click here to read [PDF]
